Katia Langton, Secretary of the International Diabetes Federation is pleased to be announcing the new Diabetic Foot Guidelines, to decrease ulcers and amptations, at the World Congress of Diabetes hosted by the IDF in Abu Dhabi Dec 5th-8th, 2017. Diabetes, ulcers and amputations are poised to overwhelm nations and cripple health care budgets as this disease skyrockets globally. It is imperative that we front end load our resources into educating health care practitioners in treating Diabetic Foot disease in the early stages and with urgency, with a focus on preventative care, preventative offloading devices, and devices that will close the ulcers quickly. This will reduce overall costs and make health care sustainable in the future as the disease progresses on a global level.
